Copyright and takedown policy

Effective 16 September 2026. These pages are a practical launch template and should be reviewed by a qualified UK legal adviser before paid advertising or unrestricted public uploads are enabled.

Uploader responsibility

The person publishing a layer must identify its source and rights status. “Available online” does not necessarily mean free to republish. Public maps must use public-domain material, an appropriate licence, permission from the rights holder or the uploader’s own work.

Requesting removal

Use the contact form with the public map URL, the specific layer, your relationship to the work and an explanation of the claimed right. Include a reliable way to contact you. We may temporarily hide material while reviewing a request and may ask both parties for additional evidence.

Counter-information

An uploader may provide evidence of permission, licence or public-domain status. Repeated false rights claims may result in account restrictions.
